Woodland Washington

Wooodland Washington

Woodland WA, is one of the smallest but fastest growing cities in Cowlitz County, in the Southwest Washington region. Situated in both Cowlitz and Clark Counties, the city mainly sits on the Cowlitz County side but over the years the city has grown to the northern side of Clark County. Woodland is located by Interstate I-5 at exit 21, only 20 miles from Vancouver Washington and 25 miles from Portland Oregon.

The city was founded in the early 1880s and was incorporated in 1906. Originally planned for the west side of Interstate I-5, Woodland has been expanding east along the banks of the beautiful Lewis River as well as south along the popular Horseshoe Lake and across the river on the Northern side of Clark County. Currently the city is the home of approximately 4,300 residents who are proud to call it home.

Located at the junction of Interstate I-5 and state highway 503, the city is known as the southern gateway to the Historic Volcano Mt. St. Helens. The beautiful sceneries along the Lewis River Highway on the way to the mountain and the amazing views of the Columbia and Lewis Rivers, Mt. St. Helens and Mt.Hood are among the best in Southwest Washington. Other beautiful or historic sights around the city includes; the historic 1876 Grist Mill, 18-hole Lewis River Golf Course, the 6.5 acres Horseshoe Lake and five other city parks.

Woodland is also well known in the region for The Annual Planters Day celebration, its famous, Hulda Klager Lilac Garden, the annual celebration of the Lilac Festival, the Klager Museum which is open to the public in the spring only. Most of the community gets involved and is happy to participate in these yearly activities which attract people from all over the states of Washington, Oregon and many others. Woodland is definitely fast becoming one of Longview/Kelso metropolitan area most, (if not the most) expensive neighborhoods. In the last few years the citys fast growing rate has attracted many new businesses and with some big projects on the works the citys future looks even brighter.
